Tall Centerpiece Ingredients
What about a mixture of these four items for the vase? The vases wouldn’t be completely full, but I think that might be okay.

Tall Centerpiece Help Needed

Our venue has very high ceilings. Therefore, I’d love to use tall centerpieces cause I don’t want the room to feel empty. I found some vases at IKEA that I think I can use. Meet Blomster. It’s 17.75 inches tall!

I just don’t know what to put in it. I need something inexpensive that I can get in bulk of course. I’ve played with apples oranges and lemons, but I don’t really like how they look. It could be because of the dots on the vase or its shape. I’m not really sure, but it’s not working for me.

I know a lot of people use branches to add height, and I like them but sometimes they look a little too rustic  for me. Plus, they’re not really cheap. And yeah, I could go outside and get some from my yard, but they’re not really that nice looking.

So, I need ideas from all of you. What can I put in my vase that will total no more than $5 per table?

Dollar Store Finds

Have you seen DollarTree.com lately? I suggest you have a look-see.

In the vases and bowls section, they have plenty of options that could be used to help build centerpieces for your reception tables. Everything doesn’t have to cost a fortune. And of course, all of these are only $1.

Side note: I used to always tell my mother, “If you say bucks instead of dollars, it makes it sounds like less. So that means 20 dollars seems like a lot more than 20 bucks.”

So all the bowls and vases are only a buck ;-)

A few examples for your viewing pleasure (of course the flowers and candles are sold separately):

Antiqued Bronze Plastic Pedestal Vase

Black Ceramic Garden Dishes/Planter

Glass Cylinder Vase

Deconstructed Candy Buffet

I love food and by extension cooking shows. You know how a chef will make a deconstructed version of a meal with several different elements? Like if they’re making deconstructed chicken piccata, they might have rice in one dish, chicken in one area of the plate and a lemon caper sauce in another area. Can you see where I’m going with this? …No?…Of course you cant – let me explain.

Everyone’s doing these beautiful candy buffets. I don’t think we’re going to do one, but maybe we could do a deconstructed version of one.

What if  we put a single container of candy at each table as part of the centerpiece? It would encourage guests to mix and mingle and the candy ends up serving double duty, both as decor and dessert.

Thoughts?

Ball Canning Jars as Reception Centerpieces

I saw this idea over at We Met in A Bar. It’s just a plain glass jar, dressed up with some really nice ribbon in a color of your choice. A quick Google search yielded these Ball canning jars. Depending on the size, you could get a 12 pack for as little as $6.99.

That means you could go from here…

To here…

For pretty cheap. Especially if you grow and cut your own flowers. (Yeah, we can talk about that later)

Pier 1 Glass Tumblers

Yep.

They don’t work for the theme of our wedding, but they’d be very nice in the right setting. They could work either as bud vases or candle holders.

And they’re on sale for $1.68-$2.18.

Or, if you’re feeling extra creative, you could fill the glasses halfway with sand, rocks or coffee beans and use them to hold table names/numbers on sticks. I realize I probably sound pretty incoherent on this idea, so I’ll elaborate on this in another post soon.

Non-Floral Centerpiece Example: Sticks and Feathers

Ms. Avocado at Weddingbee fashioned her centerpieces out of sticks, feathers and crystals. Left to my own devices, I don’t think I could be this creative, but she pulled it off and it definitely looks like they were professionally done.

Non-Floral Centerpiece Example – Peas

Miss Deviled Egg at WeddingBee is experimenting with centerpiece ideas. She’s using peas as a base and candles to accent. I never would have thought to use peas. Just kind of makes you wonder what else could be used a filler.
