Be careful of baby's breath (also known as gypsophila). If it's not fresh, it'll shed like the dickens. I too am working my way through a list of inexpensive flowers. Luckily, I used to be a product manager at FTD, so I know where I can get a bang for my buck. Thing big, think cheap: football mums, gerbers, carnations, lisianthus (double lisi can look like a rose), hydrangea. All are big and not too expensive! Good luck!
