Detroit Style Late Night Snacks

So you all already know how I feel about favors…meh.

But I do love the idea of a late night snack for our guests.

And I think I found a compromise between the two.

As far as local favorites go, a few important ones call Detroit home.

Better Made Potato Chips

Detroit Popcorn Co. popcorn

Vernor’s Ginger Ale

Faygo pop

They were all instrumental in my upbringing and have served me well through the years.

Right now, I have know idea how inexpensively I could get these items, but I’m going to call around and see what I can find.

I love this idea! I just showed it to my soon to be hubby and he was sold on this as a favor! We’d been going back and forth on what to do for a long time. We were looking for something cute and authentically Detroit–this is perfect!

Great ideas. We are going with White Castle as our late night snack

I do love the vernors!

Love this idea!

This is such a cute idea! I love it!! These are the perfect Detroit gifts…I have a particular fancy for grape Faygo myself…(: Good luck!

That is an awesome idea! I am originally from Detroit but have been gone 10 years and still miss these things. You made my day and my mouth water!

just found your site! so excited to read all about your budget-friendly planning!

Okay, I resisted commenting until I came upon this post. I am from Detroit and grew up on Faygo, Bettermade and Vernors. I still order Bettermade chips regularly, just check out the chip store. You can get Faygo at your local Kmart or sometimes a grocery store like Bi-Lo (Tennessee) or discount store like Fred’s. I sneak in big boxes of BM Red Hot chips (my fave) and hide them b/c I don’t want my FI to know how many bags I eat in one setting!

@Syreta – Glad to see you’re still finding a way to get that Detroit flavor. I thought this stuff would be impossible to find once I left the Midwest.

This makes me so happy. Please tell me you in some way plan to incorporate coney dogs as well!

Also, congrats on the venue. It has to feel good knowing the venue cost is going to such a great institution.
