Don’t forget the less than obvious stuff: valet fee (if there is no self parking), jewelry, bridesmaid + groomsmen gifts, undergarments for dress fittings, hair and make up, hotel rooms (your room should be free if you guarantee a block). I’m in the process of looking for a cake now, any suggestions? I refuse to pay $500 for a cake for 80 people. The tuxedo place gave us a huge discount because we were referred by another bride and the groom’s tux was free (President Tuxedo in Birmingham)!

I don’t know if you have Publix in Detroit, but we have them in the south & that’s where I’m going to look for my cake. You can also get the “fake cake” approach by having a real layer or two & then the rest is filler material covered in fondant or buttercream. In the kitchen, they can cut a sheet cake for your guests.

There is a wonderful baker in Dearborn! She’s very reasonable and her cakes are to die for and very delicious (my mouth is watering just thinking about it!) Her name is Roberta and her website is conceptsinconfection.com. She makes cakes very similar to Ace of Cakes or the Cakegirls but a a reasonable price! Let me know if you like her! Best of luck.
