So I emailed the woman at the Guardian Building to find out if we just had a misunderstanding about the date. Turns out we did.
Here’s the skinny on the fat:
- Capacity of up to 250 people
- Steep rental fee
- Can use own caterer
- Have to pay for insurance (?)
- Have to rent tables and chairs (?)
- Would have to bring own bartender or find a caterer with a liquor license
The above info is just for the 32nd floor ballroom. They also have an area, I believe on the first floor, called Rowland Cafe which is available to rent. Judging by the pictures, this is where that Guardian Building Wedding on a Budget took place. I don’t any details about this space yet, but I was given another persons contact info for more details.

This is funny because I finally got a return message from the lady today. She stated that tables and chairs were included in the rental fee. I think I need to recheck that little tidbit of info. I was thinking that it shouldn’t be hard to find a caterer with the insurance, but there I go assuming again.

Hey taxchick –
I didn’t actually talk to her. All of our communication has been over email, so i could only infer from what she wrote that tables and chairs weren’t included. Hopefully I’m mistaken. I’ll have to double check that too.

How much is “steep” exactly? I’m waiting to get a call back on this place. I love it, but if it’s too $$ I’ll just move on!

Hey Beth,
When I talked to someone at the Guardian building, I was told the cost would be 6k for the rental fee and license fee, $500 security deposit, and $30/hr for 1 or 2 security guards. A little too steep for me, but if you have less than 250 people, it might work for you. It really is a beautiful building.
