I know I’ve told you guys about the beautiful budget wedding at the Guardian building. So I emailed the contact at the Guardian Building a while ago and never heard anything back. I tried them again recently and here’s the response I got:
—————————————
Me:
Hello,
I am interested in holding my 2009 wedding and reception at the Guardian building. We are expecting 200-250 guests and would prefer a Saturday in August. Can you provide me information on your rates and availability please?
Them:
We are currently not booking events that far in the future. Please feel free to recontact us later in the year.
Me:
Can you tell me when I should contact you again? In 1 month, 3 months – any estimate is appreciated. Also, are you able to give me an idea of the fees involved and whether you have a caterer that I’d be required to use?
Them:
Please recontact me during the Spring of next year.
————————————————-
So, you tell me. Am I reading this wrong? Is this woman just incredibly rude? I can’t understand why she would be this blatantly dismissive.
I’m going to try to contact her one more time with the hopes that she just misread my year. Maybe she’s thinking I’m looking summer 2010. We’ll see.

We tried here too without much luck. If you’re considering the ballroom on the 32nd the packet of information we were finally emailed said that there was a flat rental rate of $5,000!

I would give it one more try, and then move on if the response is similarly rude. Good luck!

I am not sure who you emailed but when I called there earlier this year for my October 2009 wedding they were more than willing to talk to me about pricing. I was looking to use the LaSalle Bank Lobby in the Guardian building but you have to have less than 75 guests for that area and I am having around 100. I would definitely try calling them.

I am guessing she thought 2010. I called them a few weeks ago regarding a summer 2009 wedding date in the ballroom (I believe I spoke with someone named Karen) and she gave me a list of available dates and everything. I didn’t choose it because of the insurance costs, but she was helpful.

I don’t think it was “rude,” per se. But certainly not helpful. I would think that someone interested in getting your business would give you some details, or at least an explanation as to why she couldn’t give you a price quote until the spring.
