The venue I thought might be available for a Friday, of course isn’t.
But I may have found something even better.
The newest venue/object of my affection:
- can hold up to 300 people for strolling reception and sit down dinner
- is available on a Saturday next summer
- has 3 different choices for caterers, with varying price levels
- is in Midtown Detroit
- is full of character
- is affordable!
I’ve been there before, but of course not in the context of planning a wedding. So we’re gonna go take a look at it next weekend.
You know the routine – fingers crossed!

Have you considered having your wedding on May 24th? It is the Sunday before Memorial day so most of your guest will have Monday off…it is essentially the same as having it on a Saturday except the cost for most of your vendors will be significantly reduced.

Thanks Mel – we did think about it but the issue with that is: if we ever want to travel somewhere for our anniversary, the flights and accomodations will probably be inflated because it’s close to a holiday.
