Wheat Grass Centerpieces

I’ve always loved the look of grass in decor and flower arrangements. I’ve looked online a little for some grass I could use for our centerpieces, but I’ve only found fake grass so far. I was in the grocery store the other day and spotted the perfect little container of grass.

Upon further investigation, I saw this was in fact, wheat grass.

So I read up on it, and apparently it only takes 7-10 days to grow about 7 inches.

And it’s not very expensive: about $1/lb

I don’t know yet how I’ll use it on the tables, but I’m anxious to try growing some as a trial.

Definitely try it out! I bought some wheat grass seeds online thinking my kitties would want to munch it (they didn’t of course) but it grew SO quickly. I think mine took only 4-5 days to get to the length in the photos above. It was rediculously easy :)

We also used a wheat grass type of centerpiece – albeit they were not real. Many advantages to the not living floral centerpieces – you can get them done way ahead of time and they are significantly less expensive. If flowers aren’t at the top of your priority list you may want to consider going this route.

I love the look of wheat grass – especially to hold place cards. I’ve heard wheat grass is pretty easy to make, but you may want to try it out a couple times before the big week. Good luck!!
